What is Noillirk (in 30 seconds)
Noillirk is a daily game where you name the answer most people would give. It is the reverse of Krillion, whose name it spells backwards, and it has since been renamed Crowdict.
Learning to play Noillirk takes one game, because there is only one rule to absorb: popular beats clever. Most trivia games have one right answer and reward knowing it. Noillirk accepts many right answers and rewards the one that the largest share of people would say. Knowing a lot helps you stay valid; thinking like everyone else is what scores.
If you want the background on the game and the rename, see our Noillirk overview. This page is the practical tutorial.
How to play Noillirk, step by step
Step 1: Start the Daily
Open noillirk.com (or crowdict.com and choose Crowd) and press Play. The ten prompts are the same for everyone on the same date and change at midnight in your local time. No account is needed; your progress and streak are saved in the browser.
Step 2: Read the prompt
Each Noillirk prompt names a category: a capital city in Europe, a Pixar film, a bone in your body. Watch for limits in the wording, such as “current” teams or “feature” films. An answer outside the limit is not accepted.
Step 3: Type one answer in 30 seconds
Type what you think most people would say and press Enter, or Go on a phone keyboard. If the game refuses your answer, try another while the timer runs; a refusal costs nothing but time. You can also pass.
Step 4: Watch the reveal
The result card shows your band, your points, how many of the 100-person crowd walked over to your answer, and the top five answers on that prompt’s board. The rest of the board stays hidden so the prompt is still worth playing if it comes up again.
Step 5: Finish, get your title and share
After question 10 you see your total out of 2,500, a title and share cards. The share text shows a coloured circle per question and how many people you pulled, never your actual answers, so it does not spoil the Daily for friends.
Noillirk scoring explained
Noillirk scores every accepted answer in two steps: a base score from the band, then a multiplier from the question number.
| Band | Position on the board | Base points |
|---|---|---|
| #1 Answer | #1 | 100 |
| Runner-up | #2–#3 | 75 |
| Top 5 | #4–#5 | 50 |
| Top 10 | #6–#10 | 25 |
| Off the Board | Any other accepted answer | 10 |
| Pass / timeout | — | 0 |
| Questions | Multiplier | #1 Answer is worth |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | ×1 | 100 |
| 3–5 | ×2 | 200 |
| 6–8 | ×3 | 300 |
| 9–10 | ×4 | 400 |
Worked example. Suppose you hit a Runner-up on question 1 (75), #1 Answers on questions 2–5 (100 + 200 + 200 + 200), a Top 5 on question 6 (50 × 3 = 150), #1 Answers on 7 and 8 (300 + 300), an Off the Board on 9 (10 × 4 = 40) and a #1 Answer on 10 (400). Your Noillirk total is 1,965 out of 2,500. Notice that the single slip on question 9 cost 360 points, more than the whole of question 1 and 2 combined.
The crowd count follows the points: every 25 points in a round pulls one of the 100 people to your tile, so a perfect 2,500 pulls everyone.
Noillirk Unlimited vs the daily
Once the Daily is finished, Noillirk Unlimited lets you keep going with runs of 10, 20 or endless prompts drawn from a bank of 240. The scoring is identical and the multiplier pattern repeats every ten questions. Unlimited never affects your Daily streak. Use it to practise, then come back to the Daily, which is the version you compare with friends. An endless run plays every prompt once before any repeats, then reshuffles.
Tips to score higher in Noillirk
- Answer like a crowd, not like an expert. When the prompt asks for a bone, the crowd says femur or skull, not “cuneiform”.
- Use the most standard name. “Jaws”, not “Jaws (1975)”; “Chicken”, not “Rhode Island Red”. Variants are recognised, but the standard name is safest.
- Do not get cute on ×3 and ×4 questions. A safe Runner-up at ×4 (300) beats a gamble that lands Off the Board (40).
- Learn from the top five. After every reveal, read the top five. Over a week you will learn the crowd’s instincts surprisingly well.
- Study real answer data. Our Noillirk hints page shows what thousands of players actually typed on the latest Daily.
FAQ
How long does a game of Noillirk take?
At most about five minutes. There are ten prompts with up to 30 seconds each, plus a few seconds of reveal after each answer. Answer faster and it is shorter.
What happens if Noillirk does not accept my answer?
A refused answer only costs time: you can try another while the clock runs. If you pass or time out, the result card lets you report an answer you think should count.
Do typos count in Noillirk?
Small typos, plurals and common variants are recognised. Very different spellings or nicknames may not be, so type the most standard name when you can.
What do the Noillirk titles mean?
Each run ends with a title such as Mind Reader, Crowd Whisperer, Hit or Miss, Close Call, Own Lane or Free Thinker. They describe how closely your answers matched the crowd overall.
Is the Noillirk board a live poll of players?
No. The board for each prompt is an estimate prepared in advance of how 100 people would answer, which is why it is marked “est.”. It is not updated live from what players type.
How do I play Noillirk with friends?
Finish a Daily or a 10- or 20-prompt Unlimited run and share the challenge link. Friends play the same prompts in their own time and see your pick after each of theirs. Crowdict also offers live parties.
